Community Mental Health, Wellbeing & Resilience

January–March 2026 Advocacy Highlights

We co-led technical updates to Title VI—Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders—of the Health Equity and Accountability Act (HEAA) in partnership with the Center for Law and Social Policy as part of the bill’s reintroduction process.

2025 Advocacy Highlights

Building on a prevention-focused framework, we advanced federal mental health policy that strengthens community-based care and long-term resilience. We endorsed the STRONG Support for Children Act and the Community Mental Wellness and Resilience Act, which expand trauma-informed and community-led mental health approaches. We supported policies preventing and addressing adverse childhood experiences, reducing youth suicide risk through family-centered strategies, and strengthening data and surveillance systems that inform early intervention. We also engaged appropriators to protect funding for community-based prevention and crisis response programs and advocated for investments that integrate mental health into public health, maternal and child health, and cross-sector community systems.
