What A Decade in Park Equity Taught Us

In honor of National Public Lands Day, join Prevention Institute's Grace Cotango and Francisco Romero, Program Managers for our People, Parks, and Power (P3) initiative, for a conversation in Leimert Park about how they each found their way into park and green space equity work.

Grace and Francisco share the personal stories behind their advocacy, from youth health education and community organizing to co-leading a Measure A campaign in Los Angeles County that helped direct millions in park funding to the communities that need it most. They talk about why access to quality parks and green space is a wellbeing issue, and how community power-building and policy advocacy, not one-off park improvements, are what create lasting change.

Learn more about the People, Parks, and Power initiative and the 14 community-rooted organizations across the country working toward park and green space equity through policy, systems change, and community power-building.
