Bridging Health Equity & Racial Justice

Bridging Health Equity & Racial Justice

Bridging health equity and racial justice means recognizing that health, safety, and wellbeing depend on racial justice. Health equity means creating fair, just, and supportive conditions so communities can reach their full health potential. Because structural, institutional, and cultural racism shapes community conditions and sustains inequities affecting Black, Indigenous, Latine, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and immigrant communities, advancing health equity is not possible without racial justice.

Our approach is grounded in structural analysis and practice that make racial justice actionable. We emphasize internal practice to ensure our structures and culture reflect the values we advance. As we strengthen public health practice, we recognize that leadership rests with racial justice movements and impacted communities. We partner with public health departments, healthcare systems, advocacy and racial justice organizations to shift systems, policies, and narratives. Through research, policy analysis, training, and capacity building, we support practitioners to embed racial justice in their prevention practice.

Our work contributes to outcomes that confront structural racism, repair and prevent harm, and build community power. We cultivate partnerships that elevate community leadership and strengthen public health practice. We advance narrative change centered in community and justice. And we support the equitable distribution of power and resources through policy and systems transformation. Success means shifting norms, sharing power, and embedding accountability so communities most harmed by injustice can lead and thrive.
