Prevention Institute’s work centers on health equity and racial justice. With support from the Kellogg Foundation, we engaged organizations improving community health to share insights, strengthen partnerships, and inform practices that advance equitable systems.
This report highlights promising practices and recommendations for incorporating contextual and experiential evidence into public health decision-making. It outlines how institutions can recognize community conditions and lived experience as valuable forms of evidence. The report offers key strategies for gathering, integrating, and sustaining these forms of evidence to strengthen more equitable and effective prevention efforts.
Learning Lab #3 focuses on long-term sustainability for community safety work. It highlights the power of youth leadership and youth–adult partnerships in a multigenerational approach to violence prevention.
Learning Lab #2 provides an overview of federal, state, and local policy contexts on community violence and youth. It explores how local initiatives can respond to “tough on crime” approaches, highlights state-based organizing strategies such as Invest in US, and examines opportunities and challenges for youth engagement.
