Supported The California Endowment’s Social Bond process.

Between September 2021 and February 2022, The California Endowment’s (TCE) Health System Team engaged with more than 100 stakeholders to co-create an investment framework for the health system portion (approximately $100 million) of its social justice bond. Prevention Institute, under contract with Everyday Impact Consulting, and in partnership with Health Innovations Group and Kahakulei Institute provided staff support to the Health and Wellness Technical Advisory Group which produced guidance and recommendations for TCE bond investments to improve health and wellness outcomes in California. The resulting investment framework described four levers for change and elevated a set of priority strategies, with substantial consideration and importance given to input from community members. The California Endowment's Health System Team, with approval from TCE's Board of Directors, is utilizing the bond framework as its guide to investing in organizations and collaboratives that will work over 10 years to build health infrastructure in California and achieve the aims outlined in the investment framework. Prevention Institute is proud to have contributed to this innovative strategy for enlisting partner perspectives to guide spending decisions that will accelerate health equity, racial justice, and health system transformation in California.
