Connecting the Dots: An Overview of the Links among Multiple Forms of Violence

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Date Published:  August 2014

Summary

People and communities experience violence in blended and overlapping ways, and certain conditions give rise to many forms of violence. For example, young people growing up in unsafe neighborhoods may witness violence at home, be bullied at school and join a gang for a sense of belonging. To clarify the relationships among eight forms of violence, Prevention Institute developed Connecting the Dots with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This publication builds a case for practitioners to coordinate their efforts, increase their impact, and work toward preventing multiple forms of violence at once.
