Supported a Cost of Gun Violence study whose recommendations were unanimously adopted by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

We engaged community members and multisector partners in dialogues to identify policy, program, and budget solutions to prevent gun violence in Santa Clara County as part of the County of Santa Clara Health Department’s Cost of Gun Violence study. The study provided the County Board of Supervisors and other decision-makers with upstream strategies and a public health framework for gun violence prevention. The County is allocating resources to implement the recommendations, including a narrative change campaign, a grant program for city jurisdictions, replication of a resident-centered place-based gun violence prevention initiative, and capacity building for community advocacy and civic engagement groups to advance local gun violence prevention strategies.
