Young Minds Matter Conference
The Young Minds Matter (YMM) Conference is a free, biannual event organized by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health that brings together youth, caregivers, educators, agency representatives, and community stakeholders to explore strategies for strengthening the mental health and wellbeing of Texas children and families. As part of a broader movement, YMM shifts the conversation from individual to community-level approaches to youth mental wellbeing, uplifting strategies that address the social and structural conditions shaping young people’s lives.
Since 2019, we have played a key role in leading the conference’s collaborative design process and managing event logistics for the Houston-based gathering. Each conference centers community-rooted approaches and a commitment to addressing the root causes of mental health challenges, particularly among youth and families of color. Through keynote speakers, panels, interactive breakout sessions, and networking opportunities, YMM inspires new ideas, relationships, and action—while elevating youth voice and leadership. YMM Conference themes over the years include: Meeting the Moment Together (2025, in-person); Transforming Our Communities Collectively (2023, hybrid); Healing, Justice, and Connection for Mental Well-being (2021, virtual); and Communities Connecting for Well-being (2019, in-person).
