2024 SYNC Safety Learning Labs

Through the below series of monthly learning labs, the 30 community organizations that are part of SYNC Safety engaged with experts and each other to build their capacity on violence prevention strategy and policy and systems change efforts.

Learning Lab #1 introduces a public health approach to violence, drawing on CDC tools and the role of public health partners. It explores pathways to violence and safety through Prevention Institute’s Community Safety Realized framework and highlights five racial justice principles to guide action.

Learning Lab #2 provides an overview of federal, state, and local policy contexts on community violence and youth. It explores how local initiatives can respond to “tough on crime” approaches, highlights state-based organizing strategies such as Invest in US, and examines opportunities and challenges for youth engagement.

Learning Lab #3 focuses on long-term sustainability for community safety work. It highlights the power of youth leadership and youth–adult partnerships in a multigenerational approach to violence prevention.
