Intersections in Los Angeles County

Building the capacity of community-based organizations and collaboratives in Altadena, CA to advance health equity through upstream solutions in the context of wildfire recovery

Working with the St. Joseph Fund, we are expanding the Intersections Initiative to additional communities served by the Providence-St. Joseph Health System, building on lessons learned from earlier implementation in California. This phase of Intersections—anticipated from 2026 to 2028—focuses on building the individual and collective capacity of community-based organizations working in Los Angeles County, specifically Altadena, with the aim to strengthen community power in the context of wildfire recovery efforts in the area.

Primary activities:

  • Conducting landscape analyses that integrate key documents with qualitative insights from interviews, group dialogues, and other contextual and experiential data sources.

  • Engaging local stakeholders, particularly community residents and community-based organizations, in a responsive planning process that helps define partnership structure and strategy.

  • Facilitating in-person convenings at critical junctures to support shared understanding, relationship building, and aligned action.
