Community Violence Prevention Learning to Action Collaborative
Partnering with the Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCCPHD), we support the Community Violence Prevention Learning to Action Collaborative to strengthen community-rooted approaches to safety and healing. This project runs from March 2025 through December 2026.
We work with four community-based organizations (CBOs) in Santa Clara County to develop long-term solutions that address the root causes of violence, implement healing-centered and culturally rooted prevention strategies, and build safe and peaceful communities. Recommendations from The Cost of Gun Violence in Santa Clara County report and the success of the East San Jose PEACE Partnership, both of which we helped shape, provide the foundation for this Collaborative and guide its vision.
We convene participating CBOs to learn from one another, articulate a shared vision for community safety, and cultivate a network of practitioners and advocates committed to sustaining community leadership and power. As a long-standing intermediary partner to SCCPHD, we are well positioned to facilitate meaningful collaboration between the County and local CBOs and support strategies that strengthen community wellbeing.
Primary activities:
-
Designing and facilitating monthly Collaborative meetings that center a public health approach to community safety, community-centered narratives, intergenerational healing, opportunities to influence county-level policies and systems, use of multiple forms of data and evaluation, and long-term sustainability planning.
-
Supporting CBOs in developing and implementing healing-centered and culturally rooted prevention strategies.
-
Convening shared learning and peer-support spaces that strengthen relationships, alignment, and collective action across participating organizations.
-
Bridging communication between SCCPHD and CBOs to facilitate responsive collaboration and ensure community-driven priorities inform County policies and systems.
