Join UNITY for a mixer in San Francisco to kick off the American Public Health Association (APHA) annual meeting. Come to relax and meet APHA President-Elect Adewale Troutman and Howard Spivak, director of the Division of Violence Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Reconnect with others working to prevent violence, such as UNITY partners and the UNITY City Network.

Dr. Spivak is a titan in the field of preventing violence using the public health approach. He developed the first office for violence prevention at the state level when he served as deputy commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Dr. Troutman is the former public health director of Louisville and also serves on the Prevention Institute Executive Advisory Board. His work focuses on health equity and the social determinants of health, and he is the director of public health leadership and practice at the University of South Florida.

1. Head southeast on 4th Street toward Mission Street, and walk one block
2. Turn left onto Mission Street, and walk one block
3. Turn left onto Yerba Buena Lane. Tropisueño will be on the left.
Walking Directions from Moscone Center
The walk is 0.2 miles and should take five minutes.
1. Head southwest on Howard Street.
2. Turn right toward Yerba Buena Lane. Pass the Samovar Tea Lounge.
3. Turn left and then right toward Yerba Buena Gardens.
4. Continue through Yerba Buena Gardens, and turn right toward Yerba Buena Lane.
5. Cross Mission Street, and continue straight onto Yerba Buena Lane. Tropisueño will be on the left.
