Movember Radio interview with Niiobli Armah

Date Published:  June 2016

Summary

In an interview with Movember Radio’s Osher Günsberg, PI’s Niiobli Armah talks about early learnings in the groundbreaking Making Connections initiative, in which 16 communities across the U.S. are developing actionable, scalable, community-level prevention plans to improve mental health for men and boys. Niiobli offers insights on the benefits of taking an upstream approach, tapping community assets, and re-envisioning notions of masculinity to enhance opportunities for mental health and wellness.

Niiobli underscores the importance of authentically engaging young men in the work. “I’m always amazed at the wisdom that comes from young people,” he says. “If the adults will just sit down and listen, we have so much to learn from them.”

Listen to the end to hear about Niiobli’s plan for his Movember moustache, and the advice he would offer his younger self!
