Community members and racial justice advocates are collectively pursuing transformative solutions designed for equity and justice. Fully realizing these demands—especially in Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian and Pacific Islander, and other communities of color—requires dismantling and replacing policies, practices, and investment patterns that reinforce structural racism.
Prevention Institute is joining these calls to action through a body of work to advance a System of Prevention for Racial Justice and Health Equity that supports health, safety, and wellbeing by:
-
Naming and centering racial justice and inclusive power sharing in all processes and outcomes;
-
Recognizing and resourcing community members as leaders and change agents; and
-
Actively addressing the foundational causes of racial injustice and health inequities, including the harms of white-centered privilege.
Through generous funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Prevention Institute is advancing the elements of a System of Prevention for Racial Justice and Health Equity by: 1) deepening our racial justice and health equity policy analysis; 2) strengthening our partnerships and alliance development; 3) leveraging strategic communications and narrative change to emphasize public health’s responsibilities in advancing racial justice and health equity outcomes; and 4) developing action-oriented products that amplify connections between more traditional public health approaches and bolder racial justice movement solutions.
