On Wednesday night, the House of Representatives passed legislation known as 21st Century Cures Act that would cut $3.5 billion from the Prevention and Public Health Fund. Regardless of the purpose of this or any other bill, Prevention Institute remains opposed to any legislation that repeals, cuts, or diverts current or future allocations of the Prevention Fund.
The Senate is expected to take up the Cures legislation early next week. Please use our simple online tool to tell your Senators that you oppose use of the Prevention Fund as an offset for Cures. And don’t forget to include a personal story about the importance of prevention funding for your community.
As you know, the Prevention Fund is a critical investment for improving the health and wellbeing of communities across the country. We cannot afford to let lawmakers continue to chip away at this vital and singular source of federal funding for prevention.
