Tell Your Legislators: Community Prevention Works!

Earlier this month, we invited you to reach out to your legislator during August recess. Congress needs to hear your prevention success stories -- big or small -- in order to appreciate the impact that community prevention is having on California residents. 

Join Prevention Institute’s Community Prevention Works campaign and let your legislators know about your community prevention successes. We’ve made it easy for you to contact your legislator: 

• Send an email directly to your legislators, and tell them that prevention works -- and is working right now, where you live. Be sure to add a paragraph detailing your own community prevention success stories so that your letter is tailored to the work happening locally, where you live. Looking for inspiration? See an example of a short yet powerful success story, and get tips for writing your own.
• Visit our Community Prevention Works web page to access effective tools for sharing your work with legislators and the media.

Prevention Institute will compile success stories from our campaign and share them with California Senators Feinstein and Boxer in September. If you decide to mail a letter to your legislator, please send a copy to us. If you’re not able to participate in the campaign, you can still send us your success stories to share with the Senators.

Join the campaign before August recess ends (September 7th) and your legislators return to D.C. Together, we can help our leaders understand the true impact of community prevention.
