Kalia Pannell is a 2nd year MPH student studying Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences with a certificate in Health Disparities and an Albert Schweitzer Fellow. Kalia is from El Paso, Texas, and received her bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Rice University in May 2016. She began her research career with a focus on cancer cell research at UT Health Science Center at Houston and the University of Pennsylvania over three years. In 2020, Kalia transitioned her focus towards mental health research and public health, where she applied the data entry, data collection, and research skills she learned from her biochemistry background towards her MPH. Her current interests include maternal and child health, racial and health equity, and marginalized and disenfranchised community health.
