Juan González (he/him), MPH MCP is an Associate Program Manager based in Oakland, where he works with Prevention Institute’s Safety and Wellbeing team. He is passionate about partnering with community changemakers to achieve equitable access to healthy and participatory living environments.
Juan has a strong background in both public health and city planning. Prior to joining Prevention Institute, Juan was a Manager with the civic sector consulting firm Bennett Midland in New York City, where he supported government agencies, nonprofits, and philanthropies in strategizing and evaluating their services to deepen community impact. Select accomplishments include supporting the design and launch of the New York City Office for Child Care and Early Childhood Education, developing three-year strategic plans for a community foundation and child welfare nonprofit, and supporting the impact evaluation of a major U.S. city’s climate action office. Previously, Juan also developed a needs assessment for a large-scale community health center network in the Bay Area and conducted research on the health and policy impacts of COVID-19 on homelessness and housing insecurity for the California Department of Public Health.
Juan holds a Master of Public Health and Master of City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Biology from Columbia University. He was born and raised in Santa Ana, California and enjoys testing new recipes in the kitchen, visiting museums, and reading nonfiction.
