Addressing the Intersection Community Pilot Projects
Building on the findings and recommendations in Addressing the Intersection: Preventing Violence and Promoting Healthy Eating and Active Living, Prevention Institute coordinates an innovative pilot effort funded by the Convergence Partnership, a national collaborative of funders with the with the shared goal of changing policies and environments to better achieve the vision of healthy people living in healthy places. Prevention Institute provides training and technical assistance to six community partnerships across the country to implement policy and environmental changes that support safe and healthy neighborhoods. These community teams consist of representatives from multiple sectors and disciplines, including healthy eating and active living advocates, groups focused on preventing violence, public health departments, local government, law enforcement, and youth.
Communities Creating Healthy Environments (CCHE)
CCHE is a national capacity-building initiative to support diverse, community-based organizations and indigenous groups with proven track records in developing and organizing for effective, culturally competent policy initiatives that address the root causes of childhood obesity at the local level. Prevention Institute provides technical assistance for this initiative through training, facilitation, policy development and the creation of resources and tools that target food and recreation equity issues.
Convergence Partnership
Prevention Institute provides ongoing guidance, strategy development, and policy analysis for the Convergence Partnership, a collaboration of leading national funders with the shared goal of changing policies and environments to better achieve the vision of healthy people living in healthy places. PolicyLink, a national research and action Institute devoted to advancing economic and social equity, acts as program directors for the partnership.
Joint Use Task Force
A statewide collaboration dedicated to ensuring that all children have a safe place to play and be active within easy reach.
